Say FU Perfection and Focus on Progress!
There is something that has been on my mind lately…
It’s about perfection and how it can take away your emotional wellness and actually prevent you from achieving your health, life, and carreer goals. It can make you a slave of your own ego (BTW. I believe that ego is not always bad and we can use it to stretch and grow but this is a topic for another day) and make you feel trapped. Once you get trapped in perfectionism, it’s not possible to move forward and you are not really able to receive value from your own actions. This short post is written as a reminder that it’s OK to fail. It’s OK to make mistakes. It’s OK to admit that we screw up sometimes. Whatever it is that you want to achieve, you will not achieve it without making progress and without moving forward. So what’s the point of getting stuck with one thing, just trying to make it all perfect? Read on to brainstorm. Continue reading

But I Don’t Have the Time to Take Care of My Health!
Have you ever noticed that when you get caught up in the busy-ness of life and don’t have the time to look after yourself properly, everything starts to turn off-course? Things just don’t go as planned. I have been there many times myself…Do you also notice, when life gets busy, self-care is one of the first things to slide. It tends to seem so unimportant to everything else that’s going on around us. We tend to put off health and wellness for later…I feel this can happen, because many of us feel that it’s kind of selfish to be taking time for ourselves, while we could be taking MORE care of our jobs, businesses, studies, money and other social ambitions. However, can you enjoy your dream job or grow your business or have quality time with your family if you feel sick and tired all the time? Or you feel sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? Carrot, Lime and Coconut Smoothie with Cashew Nuts, Tahini and a Hint of Chili
Carrots are a great source of vitamin A and C, while lime juice also is very high in vitamin C making both ingredients very good for the maintenance of a healthy, youthful skin. The coconut milk and cashew nuts contain high doses of healthy fats that will help to moisturize your skin from within; these healthy fats are also very good for maintaining strong and well nourished hair. The Tahini adds a sesame flavour to this smoothie as well as a creaminess that is further boosted by the addition of the banana, which makes a great smoothie base. The hint of chili adds a spicy kick as well as the immune-boosting capsicum that it is so rich in… Continue reading
Is Wellness and Balance Only About a Healthy Body, Spa and Herbs?
This is what I have been thinking about lately. So what is really going on and what is my definition of holistic wellness and a balanced lifestyle? Is it about being super perfect-eco-organic with your diet and about knowing all about herbs, natural remedies and holistic oils? And what the heck does the word “holistic” actually mean? Is it healthy? Is it natural? Is it peaceful? Is it relaxing? Or maybe it seemly means- honest and not afraid to dive deep? First of all, everyone is different, and so everyone has a different answer to these questions. The most important answer is your own answer, as it will help you clarify your path in life (you can always change your mind; nothing is set in stone)… Continue reading

Super Green Apple and Spirulina Smoothie
Green apples are known to be an excellent anti-ageing ingredient due to their high fiber and anti-oxidant properties; they help maintain healthy, supple skin. Green apples are also great for nourishing the skin due to their vitamin density and are also great for skin whitening and brightening. If organic, apples are best eaten with the skin on as it contains a large amount of the apple’s nutrients. Spirulina is a super food that is made from algae and is known for its immune boosting properties. If you don’t want to use spirulina in this recipe, you can also use barley grass. Ginger is another great addition as its anti-inflammatory properties also help to boost the immune system. The addition of banana to this smoothie gives it a potassium rich base and the Brazil nuts not only add some protein and healthy fats, but they are also high in selenium, which is essential cognitive function, fertility and the immune system. Ground cinnamon is known for its ability to stabilize blood sugar levels, rounding off this smoothie combination as a great option for breakfast. I really recommend this smoothie for beginners as it tastes great and is really easy to make. Continue reading
Energize Yourself with This Guilt Free Vegan Smoothie Treat!
Raw cocoa is known to be one the most powerful and rich sources of anti-oxidants, closely followed by berries. Foods containing anti-oxidants are in many cases referred to as being superfoods. What makes anti-oxidants so important is that they possess anti-ageing properties that not only help you fight the signs of ageing in your skin, but also prevent the premature aging of your body’s cellular makeup. This smoothie is a very tasty and incredibly healthy way to start your day. The banana also adds a nutritional punch with its healthy carbohydrate properties and high potassium quota; potassium is important for optimum muscle function and recovery and therefore is also very helpful when focusing on anti-ageing.
