Easy & Delicious Alkaline Juice Recipe to Help You Burn Fat and Have More Energy!

Alkaline diet lifestyle is pretty much caffeine-free in its design. If you balance yourself with alkaline foods and drinks, you get your energy in a natural way, so you don’t need to rely on caffeine. However, personally, I believe that there is nothing wrong with an occasional cup of coffee or tea (black or green) as a treat. The problem is when you need caffeine to keep you going or when you can’t crawl out of bed without it. The recipe you are just about to discover combines all the health benfits of green tea balanced with the healing properties of alkaline juice. When I say “alkaline”, I don’t refer to “changing your pH”. It’s not about changing your pH…It’s about giving your body the nutrients it needs to do a better job balancing it for you. Alkaline fooods are foods that don’t contain sugar, preservatives, gluten or caffeine. Read on to try this refreshing recipe and give your body more vitamins and minerals (this is the main point of the alkaline diet, it’s not about some magical pseudoscience that only gives this diet a bad rep).

How to Have More Energy and Feel Amazing
As an ex-coffee addict, I have been there (it led me to adrenal exhaustion, not the healthiest place to hang out, lol!). The bottom line is- balance is thy key. I know it’s not easy to get off caffeine, as you may start experiencing headaches and irritability. This is why I offer a simple, little-by-little approach. Green tea can help you make the transition. Of course, we need to remember that green tea, even though it’s green, is not alkaline (not everything that is green is alkaline; for example, kiwis are not alkaline, nor are green bananas.
Luckily for us, green tea has some really great anti-oxidant and fat burning properties and is nothing to fear. Just use it in moderation (like all kinds of caffeine containing teas). This recipe is great if you get up early or need some extra boost. I am actually having a cup of green tea now (I usually mix it with fennel seeds to give it more anti-inflammatory properties).
Servings: 1-2
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup of green tea, cooled down (you can also mix green tea with some fennel tea)
  • 2 grapefruits, juiced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • Optional: stevia to sweeten
Procedure:
  1. Mix green tea/fennel tea with grapefruit/lemon juice.
  2. Add in some stevia to sweeten.
  3. Enjoy your green tea high!

Green tea benefits:
-Better focus, concentration, and mental alertness: green tea has less caffeine than coffee, which is a good thing, as too much caffeine results in an energy clash. However, this benefit is not so much due to caffeine presence in green tea, but more because it is rich in a substance called L-theanine.
According to the Journal of Nutrition, L-theanine is an amino-acid that can increase the activity of the inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA, which has anti-anxiety effects. Aside from that, it also helps release more dopamine (natural high!) and produce alpha waves in the brain (better concentration). L-theanine works in synergy with caffeine and has been proven effective in bettering brain function.
-Fat burn and improved metabolic rate
-Natural anti-cancer drink: according to numerous studies, green tea has powerful antioxidants that may protect against different kinds of cancer.
-Less infection and better dental health: the catechins in green tea can prevent the growth of bacteria and some viruses responsible for caries, bad breath, and infections.
To sum up, if you need some caffeine in your life, green tea is a great drink. Of course, moderation is the key.
