Cleanse your liver with this green alkaline smoothie recipe

How to Create Unstoppable Energy and Vibrant Health with our Super Easy Alkaline Smoothie Recipe!

Sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? Add more raw foods to your diet. This original smoothie will help you get your energy levels back. It’s a great combination of alkaline (=sugar and yeast free) and detoxifying ingredients, and its citric scent will help you energize your senses, as well. This smoothie will be more effective if you consume it first thing in the morning before you have eaten anything. Remember to eat a clean diet. No amount of this smoothie will help if you neglect the basics and don’t take care of your nutrition in the first place. One more thing- this smoothie is a great hangover killer. Of course, remember that drinking in moderation or not drinking at all it the best solution. I am not saying that you can drink as much as you want and this smoothie recipe will solve it all. I am just letting you know that if you are going to your best friend’s wedding party, you need to master making this smoothie first…I suggest you have one before you go out and one a day after. If you are looking for natural hangover prevention, I additionally recommend you check out a homeopathic remedy called Nux Vomica.

Serves: 1- 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 grapefruits, juiced
  • 2 lemons, juiced
  • Half cup alkaline or filtered water
  • 2 tablespoons of flax oil or olive oil (you can order flax oil from Amazon here)
  • 2 cucumbers, peeled
  • 1 avocado, peeled and pitted
  • 2 cloves of fresh garlic
  • 1 inch ginger
  • Pinch of Himalayan salt
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper

 

Instructions:

  1. In a blender, combine cucumber, garlic, ginger, and avocado with some lemon and grapefruit juice.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Add alkaline water, oil, and spices.
  4. Stir well and drink to your health.
  5. Enjoy!

So what makes this smoothie so effective in taking care of your liver?

-Garlic is rich in sulfur-containing compounds that stimulate the liver enzymes responsible for getting rid of toxins from the body. It is also rich in other important nutrients, such as allicin and selenium, which help protect your liver.  It has anti-cancer properties, helps prevent fatty liver, and lower cholesterol levels. Of course, don’t overdo garlic. You don’t want those around you to start avoiding you, right?

Fortunately, grapefruit juice from this recipe helps neutralize garlic’s odor. So… nothing to worry about!

-Ginger: just like garlic, it helps to prevent liver damage and works as a natural antioxidant. It also stimulates digestion.

-Grapefruit: this alkaline fruit contains limonoids that stimulate massive production of a super powerful detoxifying enzyme called glutathione-S-transferase. This enzyme helps your liver remove more toxins.

-Lemons: they contain limonoids so they help support liver function, stimulating a detoxification process.

-Omega 3: (flax oil is rich in Omega 3) is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent that helps take care of your liver and kidneys.
